I went out in my S 320 cdi yesterday with my son for lunch the car has been driving like a dream. I kicked the car down to 75 mph and after that it would not go over 2500 revs so I nursed it home it got quite warm with some white smoke comming from under the bonnet.Today I took the car to my local garage 1 mile and a lot of smoke (white) was comming out of the Exhaust they cannot look at it till tomorrow (no Prob) they reckon that it could be the head gasket/s. Any one got any ideas on this as to wether it could be something else? any help would be appreciated. Brian J:confused:

Possibilities:
A. poor fuel
B.Low engine temperature.
C.Engine out of timing.
D.Low compression temperature
E. Engine oil burned in combustion chamber
Hard to understand the white smoke under the bonnet but could be a blown head gasket or cracked head as well as the other problems suggested.

I have posted this on the other forum.

I have been told this morning that it looks more than likely that it is the turbo that is at fault. They are stripping things down as I speak so I will keep you all informed.I do not need the car for a week as I am off to Spain so hopefully it will all be sorted out whilst I am away. Thanks for all your help.If it needs reconning they are sending it to Midland Turbos in Nottingham to be sorted, any reports about this Company?

Just got back from Garage and your money is in the right place, Turbo is shot and the bearings are allowing the shaft to move about like a flag in the wind so it's off to be reconned in Nottingham tomorrow, will let you know the outcome (price etc ). Regards Brian
