hi guys
the radio & heater lcd displays on my s320 cdi 2002 seem to be linked.
my problem is that they change from the usual dark figures against a light back ground to light figures against dark background.
this seems to happen completely randomly and for no apparent reason.
has my car gone mental or have i ??

Is not this to do with the settings,an auto dimming,I am sure that you can change this in the menu

It is the auto dimming, or day and night function of the display.

In daylight it shows yellow background with black writing, and at night goes to dark blue background with light writing.

You can change the brightness through the comand screen (if you have comand) but I don't think there is any way to make the auto change of colour more or less sensitive.

thanks fellas
this has only started happening since the instrument cluster was replaced by my dealer under warranty.

the original cluster was burnt out inside and the poor technician had to input all the functions and info manually instead of transferring them electronically.

i have noticed that i have gained some functions and lost others.
i suspect that clusters have the ability to perform all functions but every separate part needs to be enabled by laptop.

i don't appear to have auto-dimming in my menu so it looks like a trip to dealer to enable this facility and re-instate the bits that i've lost.

thanks again for your input. i love you all.
