hi i have a 2001 w220 Mercedes s500l, recently it has kept coming up with errors. It was put on two Mercedes diagnostic laptops and both of them told me it was a faulty Gateway sensor. So i bought this part from Mercedes Parts Peterborough with no problem.
Now this may sound silly but no one anywhere knows where this Gateway is in the car to replace it. Can anyone on here help as its really starting to bug me, numerous mechanics and me have all looked behind dashboard, under false floors, under rear seats, in boot pretty much everywhere.
Peterborough, London and Milton Keynes Mercedes dealerships all have no clue where it goes neither does technical support or garages that i have been to. Sorry if i have waffled on a bit but thought i would get all details in.Thanks for advice in advance. Ian

Ive found the part but cant find the location, same as you I think, Ive also found out that the part cant be swapped and fitted away from the workshop it needs to be flashed or manualy coded.

I can speak to my contact on monday to see if he can give some help as to where the part is located.

You car is far too early to have a central gateway. That is why you can't find it.

The later cars had them though.

The fault is unrelated to the CG. It will be somthing else.

That would explain why no one can find the CG on my motor, so if my car aint got a gateway what else could it be ? as computers keep saying 'low voltage fault gateway'

Above the brake pedal on the black plastic piece. Remove the screws to lower the panel.

I have checked above the brake pedal and the gateway is not there and it isnt in either of the footwells either. Also blackc55 the tests carried out are quick tests which both indicate EIS switch and gateway faults. The EIS switch has been replaced so fault is 100% with the centarl gateway now. Any other info would be much appreciated thanks.

Just an update, my s-class went in again this week and car has not got a gateway on it (after months of looking) fault was cleared and all electrics seem to be working (not sure for how long though), thanks for all your help.
