I updated it to the latest version before I plugged it in.

The codes seem odd as they lack the letter at the beginning (i.e. no 'P'). Googling the first code, 2509, brings up "ECM/PCM power supply fault/intermittent"... So I am starting to wonder whether that might be the root of the problem?

hi, press the option for DPF then choose your model , keep pressing ok and eventually you will have the screen were you can see the different parameters and dpf fill level.

It doesn't work on mine. It tries to pull the VIN number from the car, but fails and then asks me to input it manually. After doing so, it just returns to the DPF menu again.

It's definitely not talking to the ECU properly - fault codes coming out scrambled, unable to clear any codes and unable to pull the VIN - thinking I've either got a faulty reader or a dodgy ECU. Decided it's going to the local specialists tomorrow and the MB II can be returned.

Cheers for your help and suggestions though Alex.

For example, disconnect the ground point of the right headlight. Start the engine. Turn on the low beam. You will also see the message EPC El. power control Visit workshop!
Check all wiring. Ground connection points. When accelerating, you also use kick-down, this is a solenoid valve that lowers the gear to accelerate. It is also attached powered to the ground. And it is located below the car, where the aggressive environment. Check the wiring.

If SDS has problem to communicate with certain modules it is often blown fuse (or more complicated voltage/grounding like suggested before), I wonder carsoft might act likewise.

So guys I've been reading this forum and nobody seems to come up with an actual answer to the problem lord Langer's did you solve the problems because I am getting the exact same symptoms as your Merc and it's same year same engine.
It would be nice if people actually put up solutions as opposed to more symptoms yes I know mercedes are very complicated but a Merc forum I thought was to help not to throw up more and more possible symptoms with no results thanks in advance guys

Start a new thread and you could be the first to pose a problem and a solution!

(PS lots of solutions are here, just not every single one)

Hello all,

Well, the honeymoon period is definitely over with my new W220. She's a 2005, with the OM648 I6 engine and 140,000 miles.

Coming home from work on Thursday evening, I slowed down from 70mph at a set of traffic lights, and when I went to pull away again, the car was obviously in limp mode - slow acceleration, gearbox goes up through the gears quickly and will not change or kick down, and revs in neutral limited to 3,000 RPM. When I got back, I restarted the engine to see if it would clear - but it did not, and the "El. Power Control EPC - Visit Workshop!" warning light came onto the display.

So today, I plugged it into my generic OBD2 reader, and read the code: P1408 - EGR System Flow out of KOER Self Test Range.

Thinking it would just be a clogged up EGR valve (the previous owner only did short trips), I removed it today and gave it a good clean (including the mechanism under the black plastic cover, which was actually more clogged than the valve itself), thinking it would solve the issue. However, the fault code persists and re-appears every time the car is started.

When the code is cleared, upon the first start the "EPC" warning isn't there, but the car is still in limp mode. As soon as it is restarted, the EPC warning comes back.

I also just cleaned out the MAF sensor using some brake/clutch spray, which did indeed look pretty dirty - however, it made no change.

My reader also allows viewing of Live Data, including the MAF sensor reading. At a warm idle (~700rpm), the MAF reports around 18 g/s (approx. 2.2lb/min). Does anyone know is this is about right for this car?

Anyone got any experience with similar symptoms, or any suggestions?

Many thanks

Sam
Hi Sam I have the same issue with mine same year same engine now I've been through a lot of material concerning this issue and first went down the road of turbo actuator reconditioned that seemed to do the trick for about 3 weeks so I contacted who did the recon on it and first words out of the guys mouth was then its probably the turbo vanes sticking when it gets hot, causing the lack of boost and epc on dash so my next venture is going to be whipping the turbo of he says flippantly as if its a ten minute job NOT then I will take to a turbo place in Nottinghamshire and they will strip clean rebuild and run up to warp speed to check everything is OK if it is I will come back on here and let you all know how I get on I'm fairly confident this will fix the problem I will then look to the best additive to put in fuel to stop the carbon build up as I only do short journeys so fingers crossed it will be a couple of weeks so bear with me thanks guys.

That will be midland turbo.
Not often turbos fail but something feeding the turbo.
Midland will tell you what failed and why.
If carbon deposits on the vanes, try a turbo cleaner first. The OM 648 demands a flooring every now and then, you will see the puff out the back window.
