I have 320CDI.

Fantastic cars to drive a pure pleasure, parts are expensive. Depening on the age the gearboxes may fall under the "non service item", so make sure the previous owner changed the gbox oil every 35k. Mine falls under this bracket but I do my gbox oil every 35K.

Make sure no malfunctions on the display. The CPU logs pretty much everything.

Thermostats are crap, done mine after 9 years.

Depending on the era, rust at the arches and door bottoms.

They have a bad design at the bottom of the doors with a rubber strip which holds water so they are prone to rust. I done my door bottoms a couple of years ago (14 yrs old).

This year I had many problems with ABS, ESP BAS warning, thougth it was a speed sensor (as previous). But it was the control module - EXPENISIVE and needs to be coded to the car.

My car has only 60k on the clock, so i got a new control module.

Have a MB indy handy who knows how to read fault codes handy.

It's a 2005 with 10 months MOT (Passed all but 2 since 2008). that verifies 107332 miles. (All long distance allegedly). Airmatic. SH. Silver/Black Leather/Burled Walnut. Satnav/DVD. Parktronic F/R.
A pretty poverty spec. No soft-close or Memory Seats, or Heated. No Blind. No Wood Steering W. But everything works..... Bonus! Nice wheels! Privacy Glass - Rear. 2 Keys.

There is a bit of Chrome trim missing from the Door but there is a new piece in the Boot - needs Clips.

Worth a punt I reckon. Seeing it Saturday.

If it works out this could be a "Keeper".... I should NEVER have sold my S500 - STUPID! I've decided this is the Merc I like - after trying 13 others!

If I could find a decent one within my budget I would - even the ones outside my budget are not very nice and high-milers!

And I don't think this is an ex-taxi, the rear seats look like new! It just looks too "clean"..... Also, one good thing about it being a Taxi is that they are generally very well maintained because the one thing you don't want is the thing breaking down with a punter on board!

At 107k miles in 14 years it ain't been an airport taxi. 107k miles in a year, it would have been. Its done less than the average annual mileage for a car :geek::rolleyes::D So in all probability lots of short journeys with little or no chance of getting up to temp. Avoid.

A 14 year old 'S' class just rings alarm bells anyway, plus I just would not buy a car of any sort with 107k on the clock full stop. Wouldn't fit my wallet that's for sure !!.:eek:

Definitely get the V8, that way you'll fall in love with it, and won't mind the bills so much. V8 suits the car, IMHO, with added "waft" factor.
