Just to clarify w/s and c/s, w/s gearbox is the first of the w220 and MK2 2003 on the gearbox is c/s as mine which I have had for the last 8 years, there are other differences between the 2 gearboxes but nothing relevant to this problem.

I'm intrigued as to what other differences there are as both the Pre and Post Facelift w220's have the 722.6 right up until the w221 was released.
Only in the States was the 7 Speed fitted to the S430/S500 in 2004. Although the V12 kept the 5 Speed as the 7 Speed couldn't handle the extra torque. In fact the 722.6 was one of the best and strongest Transmissions as it could handle up to 1000 Nm of Torque!

Hello everyone, Just wanted to post the solution. The problem was a mass air flow sensor that was messing up. Fortunaly my mechanic found the problem quickly and didn't tear my gearbox apart.
