My front drivers side window stopped working today. I have stripped off the door card and tested the switch and also the motor - all good. The window was stuck open so after I removed the motor I closed the window manually so I assume that the operating mechanism is OK as well. That leaves the door control module as the likely faulty item. All other windows work fine.

My question is, if I buy a used module is it just a matter of plug it in and it will work or does it have to be coded to the vehicle by a main dealer?

Thanks in advance

Steve

No coding required on the door module.

Are the modules the same for both front doors or or they specific to driver and passenger sides?

Had the DCM software updated and all is working fine. Strange how it just decided to stop working after 13 years.

on USA forums for the 221, windows playing up are very common and always resolved with a firmware update to the door module....

I had all 4 of mine updated, as did another member on this forum... its a matter of course on this model where its kept up to date

good to see it was correctly maintained whilst under warranty !!!

P-B-67.39/22 MAR08 If the power window in any door is not functioning this may be due to a software error in the door control module. The applicable door control module will be flashed.

I get this and just found its "normal". without knowing they knew and had an improvement, I got mine update last year to try and work around some other issues

P-B-54-30/164a Dim Multifunction Display (MFD) in Instrument Cluster (IC) during cold temperatures. If the MFD is difficult to read for 10-20 minutes after the engine is started during cold temperatures this may be due to a hardware fault in the IC. SDS procedure will resolve. Note: There may be a difference in brightness between the MFD and outer gauges (fuel/ coolant) for up to 3 minutes after the engine is started in cold conditions. This is due to the characteristics of LCD technology. This is normal.

the colours seem brighter and sharper with deeper blacks and the diagnostics using my autel kit completes 34 minutes faster now.... taking 6 minutes to scan 50 modules rather than the 40 it used to take.... very odd
