Never seen this before or had any issue with the fuel gauge on the W221 before a peculiar event today.

I set off to do some weekend chores, car’s fuel gauge was reading just below 1/2 a tank, no problem with that, it’s what it should be.

10 miles later in the retail car park, with some big speed humps which I always crawl over, I noticed the fuel gauge drop to the bottom/totally empty but with no yellow fuel warning light. About 1 minute later whilst trying to find a parking space, it went back to just below 1/2 a tank where it should be. It’s left me now second guessing how much fuel do I really have?

Is this common in anyway to this model? If so what is the cause/fix?

wouldnt worry about it unless it comes back and becomes permanent.
Based on your routine usage you should have an idea where its at.

I know how the 3ltr responds to my use and the gauge has always been right, just never seen this before and thought, is it telling me something I don’t know like a feature I’m not aware of, or is another example of the pinnacle of modern bullish!t engineering.
