Dear All.
One of our S580e W223's has a slight issue with the rear cup holder. The vehicle is under warranty obviously as it is a 2023 model. What I would like is to be able to resolve this issue should it happen again to a different vehicle. The small flaps that hold the bottles or cups are prone to coming off. These are easy to replace with the armrest up, I have done it several times.
However, the problem I have is that now the holder will not slide all the way back in, and I think it is because the little flap has been slipped into the cup hole by a client and is now stuck. I have removed the 2 torx screws underneath and am still unable to slide out or unclip the cupholder unit. I am fully capable of almost all things mechanical and body wise both on company cars, and my own vehicles. I have owned a Rover 827 2 door coupe (Honda V6 engine version) for 19 years so am used to a little spannering and fiddling.
The rear cup holder unit in question.
The maximum retraction of the unit.
The little flap that is missing, and I believe caught behind the unit.
It is little things like this that the previous operations manager would book the cars into Mercedes to fix, rendering the car out of service for at least a day at a time. Not to mention cost.....
We have various other models of Mercedes too. Is there a good source of online manuals in how to do things like the Haynes manuals? I have a source for Audi as I also have an A2 to comply with the ULEZ.
Many thanks in advance.
