W245 B class water found in spare wheel well

Hi all,

Trying to get a bit of guidance for a relative who has just purchased a 2007 B class.

Whilst being very pleased with the car he has discovered that there was quite a fair bit of water sitting in the spare wheel well.

After drying it all up, it rained, surprise surprise and the water reappeared.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and where the water was getting in and off course what the fix was.

Unfortunately I'm not able to load any pictures as the car isn't available to at the moment but hoping to try and get some info together for when the car is.

I know your question was few years ago and that you din't get any replies, but I've got the same problem myself and I wondered if you'd managed to track down what the cause of the problem was and how you fixed it.

Colin, I remember reading about this problem on another forum - turns out there was a blocked drain hole below the OS rear light, so the water was running over it and into the spare wheel well.

There are also a few drain holes below the boot lining, if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, quite a few bits would have to come off, for these two points to be rectified, or even checked. Of course, there's no guarantee these are what causing the problem.

Also, have you looked at the rear washer pipe? This one is easy to check - just pop the cover from the third brake light out, and you'll see a blue pipe.

Thanks for the replies, although I must say as it was quite an old post I'd forgotten about it!

That said I appreciate the information as although my relative has sold the car, I own an early B class myself and I will now know how the rectify the problem if I suffer with the problem myself as thus far my boot is dry as a bone as it should be!
