So for the last few months the rear door on the beast has been tempremental. Sometimes opening half way and rarely closing with the internal switch on the rear door.

So out with the icarsoft - anti pinch strips - short.

I had been putting it off as not major, but being OCD got round to doing it today.

The strips on the W251 are part of the complete trim either side of the rear door seal and run from the hinges down the sides to the rear lights. Which makes them ****** expensive.

4 screws in total torx 25 (one under a buffer) and a push grommet at the top. Need to access the rear light panels to undo a purple wire clip thats fed through a rubber grommet.

There is a wedge at the top of the APS, make sure it sits behind the metal work and the top end slips inside a recess.
Clean the bodywork before refitting.

You will need to lift the rear door seal around where the APS is.

Also put a bit of gaffa over the grommet for the wires to keep more watertight.

Each side took no more than 20 mins and wallet is much lighter

I have this code popping up too, glad to see my suspicions of a pricey job confirmed!

Ohhhh yes. they are eye watering considering it is nothing more than a plastic mould with a rubber trim on it in which two wires go.
The prices for rarer parts go up in price the more obsolete they become, I have realised this with my W220. For which I will post another thread.

So mine has this too... (RHS). How eye wateringly expensive are we talking...?

Fortunately mine goes up and down no problems.

Enough to make the eyes water. I got them here in Germany and there was not much change from 300 Euro each.

The rubbers around the tops start to crack and i guess thats why they fail.

As a side the car was also sitting low after being left a night. So I also got the the air struts done. very common apparently as the rubber bellows become porous. It was only one side but I replaced both being OCD.

If thats the route I would take them off and let them dry out. I noticed my problems were more apparent after a rain storm.
Having now googled the part no some companies (Vameo) do a repair kit of the rubber and the loom for about 90 euro but all seem Europe based. Aftermarket not really my cuppa.

Yes I've noticed they're not a cheap car to own.

The p/no shown earlier ^^^ is £78 on one of the German specialist sites. I can’t find the other part advertised yet.
