Hello to all...
I need to replace my EGR Valve on my W639 3.0 cdi V6 2014 plate as the cleaning option didn't work (£250 down)...!!
The MB part number I was given : A6421401060 & trying to find a Whaler version is like trying to find the holy grail, MB UK haven't got any and none in Germany all on back order....!!!
I have been offered a OEM but looks different than the original.... its getting confusing... please see picture of what I've been offered at £160...
Any input would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Lostkiwi
I haven't got the egr off the vehicle as I have to use it daily for work... trying to nail down where the egr sits and the correct part is becoming a challenge. I have been told by Mercedes Benz UK that it is A6421401060.
But cannot guarantee that number is on the original.
Thanks for your input.

Unfortunately there are 5 part numbers it could be. Safest way is usually to remove and check.

EGR is located right hand bank (looking from the crank pulley end) at the back of the engine.

Hi Hayabusa,

Did you manage to replace your EGR valve? Mine has been flagged up for replacement on my R350 2012 model.
The car has been 'off road' since beginning of July!, as you know because of the parts shortage. I phoned Mercedes parts and there is still no date for the part no. A6421401060.
I really am at a loss of what to do, I've driven it occasionally, but not sure if or what sort of further damage it may cause?
Anyone know of any refurbished parts I could get hold of, as my independent garage is still waiting on the genuine Mercedes part?
I'm starting to think it is time to offload it, as three months 'off road' is impossible to live with. I still need to fix the part though.

Any advice gratefully received.

I'm getting mine mapped out due to the current unavailability.

Hi Jam60,

Excuse my ignorance, but mapped out? Does that mean having it cleaned and refurbished? Where would I get that done?

Thanks in advance.

Just googled it, I get it now. Will that allow the car to run so it's not in limp mode? Also, if so, will it cause any engine damage?

Yes it will, and no it wont. The detrimnet is slightly higher NoX emissions and less crap getting recirculated back into your inlet system.

You will also have a marginally higher warmup time with the EGR disabled.

Thanks alexanderfoti,

I notice you are in Tonbridge, not too far from me in Bexhill. Do you know of anyone in the area who can do that for me, as at the moment I've got a perfectly good car, running on limp mode for the past three months, with still no date of when the part will even be available!!

Worth pointing out, though, that it is illegal...

Illegal to use the vehicle on the public road, with emissions systems tampered with yes.

Although, in the OP's situation, what other choice does he have, other than to keep driving it in limp mode (blocking the DPF) or not drive the car at all. Bit of a pickle

You're right - it's a pickle. The illegality wouldn't especially trouble me but it's only right to point it out to people who might be more fastidious...
