Owing to a minor incident which I'm too embarrassed to explain, I have cracked the plastic front bit of the nearside wing mirror of my 190E. Does anyone have a replacement for sale, and can anyone explain how to go about replacing the plastic? All other parts of the mirror are fine.

This applies to different model but I'm sure will be very similar. You will only need to go as far as sliding off the cover of course!

Carefully push the mirror forward against the tension of its spring to gain access to the internal bits, and working through the gap thus created on the inside of the mirror, use a small screwdriver (an 'L' shaped one makes it a bit easier) to slide back the 'C' spring plate which retains the outer mirror cover. Slide off the mirror cover to access and remove the three mounting screws on the inside edge of the mirror assembly. Disconnect the wiring plug and remove the assembly from the door.
Refitting is a reversal of removal (as they say!) so be sure make mental note of removal procedure!
