Got a couple of issues to have sorted on my '06 C220 CDi Avantgarde estate;

Passenger door mirror doesn't demist and there is a 'milky' white line along bottom edge of rear screen like its delaminating.

I've seen the threads regarding dealers saying passenger mirrors don't have demist element in them, and my selling dealer (Merc Direct - Balsall Common) was cited as a bunch of cowboys on this matter. I went in expecting to have to quote the reportings of this site and they just said no problem book it in.

I was umming and ahhing about the rear screen as it doesn't shout out at you and having screen cut out and bonded back in and all the potential risks that could bring (body damage, smeg all over the interior, etc.) might make it more hassle than its worth but again they took one look and said it should be done.

I'll update how it goes when its booked in......

It is odd the way that some people think a particular dealer is useless and another will find them very accommodating. I guess a lot of it is down to the individual you deal with plus, of course, your own approach.

My first dealings with them were not very good; salesman was a 'sniffy' git and had no interest in helping me whatsoever as a genuine cash buyer with £20k burning a hole in my pocket. I only went in 2nd time to show my wife a C class estate and the (different)salesman this time was excellent, nothing too much trouble - deal was sealed (I was just happy to see the first salesman hanging around when I went in to collect my 'new' car....)

I'll report back on how the repairs went.....

Strange.... I have the same "milky" appearance on my front wind screen. Top right corner (seen from outside). Dealer (svs dept) had no idea what it could be and asked me to see if it would become worse. It has, in the last couple of weeks. Before just milky, now milky and with "drops" that are black in colour.

I do wonder what it can be???

It is delamination of the black-out strip. The drops are probably moisture that come and go as moisture builds up and dries out (condensation, etc.). I had a Skoda and this issue was (apparently) common on those hence why I followed mine up.

BTW - talking to dealer on the phone and he tells me my car doesn't have heated passenger door mirror. I pointed out that he really needed to be sure before telling me that as I'd read about the issue on forums of that being the stock answer. They will now 'look at it', hmmmm, not a brilliant feeling of confidence.

Is there a DEFINITIVE way to tell once and for all if it should have one or not or am I totally reliant on what the dealer tells me?

Sorry, bumping this back up

How can I tell if my 06/06 C220CDi Avantagarde has a heated passenger door mirror - I hear conflicting stories, some do, some don't. Dealer has already intimated that is answer I will get when he looks at it. What will he look at and why doesn't he tell me what to check?

I have the brochure for late 2004 facelift W203. Heated, elec adjustable, mirrors were standard even on the Classic. The Classic SE adds elec folding and Avantgarde (which inlcudes the SE features) adds automatic dimming.

I guess the only way to know for sure would be to take the glass out and see if it has the connections for the heater element, but it will have them.

Both front mirrors are heated etc. If it does not work, a new mirror glas probably has to be fitted as the heating elements inside of mirror are faulty. Covered under warranty if car less than 3 years old.

Car was taken in by my wife this morning, kept her waiting around for 30 minutes before seeing her so she wasn't impressed.

Mirror was fixed (but I don't know what the fix was) while she waired and screen is being arranged to be changed at home/work to suit us (that'll be Autoglass then....).

So far, so good
