I went to the stealer yeasterday as the paint on the bottom of the panoramic hard top has bubbled slightly. He said that this is often caused by storing the roof on the hard top storage systems which store the roof vertically with the rear window at the bottom This is a merc designed storage system.
He said as he was covering 4 branches and people were on holidays he would be pushed to do the report in a couple of weeks and then it would be upto merc to say if they were going to cover it under warranty or not but that would take 28 days!!!!
Then the will car will have to go a low loader to wherever they do the paintwork on the troof as they dont have the facility to ship the roof around on its own without getting damaged! :-(
So i wont get a decision until October and then it may be negative!!

Then he told me the piece de la resistance - I would have the use of a Smart For Four durng the time it was away!! Lovely

The bit I dont like is that it seems to be a bit of a lottery to get the job done under warranty..

Looking
He's feeding you a line. There is a factory defect - I had two panoramic roofs redone without question on my cars.

and another thing...

Those of you who know about my flipping refurb wheel disaster can chortle at this:
The body work manager range me yesterday lat aftenoon to tell me that my wheels have siome strange paint on them and he didnt want to me to think that they were responsible...
I thanked him very much for the information and for rubbing it in ... wasn't his fault and I know he was doing his job - but he's still a GIT for rubbing it in ...

Glad to say

It's back and I have not longer to suffer the ignomy of the Smart for Four on my drive.

The paintwork has been sorted under mobilo life on the hard top and looks fine. Sure makes you appreciate what you have when you havent got it..

I have to say the bodywork manager from Hilton who do Mercs bodywork - was excellent as was the service even in handing the keys back they made sure everything was sorted...
