It is pointed out that the following account is entirely fictitious, and for entertainment only. Racing on the Queen's highway is dangerous, disrespectful and quite illegal.

I had been looking forward to my first encounter with a well driven C63 for some time now, and Murphy's law dictated that it occured just when I had a flat pack chest of drawers and dressing table in the boot, but never mind...

Didn't even see him coming as I was in dawdle mode, inside lane. He zipped by, moving quickly but not attention grabbingly fast. I pressed on a bit, more to have a look at the car than egg anything on. Traffic lights ahead were green, but must have recently changed as there was a little gaggle of slow moving stuff. He ducked to the inside and slowly edged past a dawdler in the outside lane. I waited a bit and the dawdler edged over. As I pulled past he got on the gas quickly and I did too, and the road ahead was clear as we roared off. Initial impressions were that the car looked fantastic and very poised as well as damn fast!! For the unaware my C32 has a couple of mods and pushes circa 400 bhp. I managed to get ahead of him as we approached a roundabout, but to be honest I think he probably let me through. My car tends to get a little squirrelly at the rear under heavy braking, and a load in the boot didn't seem to help much. I entered the roundabout first, and used the whole of it to carry some speed onto the exit, where he was able to hold a much tighter line and we exitted side by side, and obviously it was flat to the floor from that moment. I know the road well, and visibility is excellent and road has very slight curve to the left for about 3 miles. Obviously he pulled past me, but not as fast as I expected, nor him I think. I stayed in touch till past 120, by which time his tyres had heated up and he started to throw a lot of stones at me - quite a few chips now sadly, but well worth it!! Finally edged alongside near my exit, and an exchanged glance of respect and it was all over.

Better than sex???

Almost!!

I am surprised at you behaving like that, I had a go with a MB on the 303 where the 2 lanes go into one, and this car would not let me in on an every other car basis, so I stayed behind to the dual carriageway and shot by at the first rounder bout, and he was hot on my tail, the road went back to a single lane again, and I timed it so that I could just pass a very long lorry and trailer, so I was in front of it and he was behind, eventually there was a garage and I needed fuel badly and the road went back to a dual carriageway, I just slipped off to the left, as he overtook the lorry and he must be wondering today where I went:D:D

Your mention of the A303 reminds me of an event which should prove very salutary to the speed oriented. My friend had a cottage he was renovating down in Devon so Friday night he loads up the estate with a wardrobe and as this is as wide as the boot puts the bag of cement he is taking on top. On the way down he gets into a speed contest with another car. It is dark at the time but as they continue racing he picks out the reflection of a cop car ahead, hits the brakes big time, the car slows right up but the bag of cement does not, as it progresses towards my friend it encounters a key sticking out of the lock of the wardrobe. The key does little to impede the trajectory of the cement bag but it does slice it open end to end in passing. the consequence was the driver ended up with his head pressed into the steering wheel by a bag and its liberated contents. The inside of that car was never the same again.

I expected it to be quick, and in fact he edged past at about the same rate as I can edge past my mates E46 M3. TBH, I have about a 75bhp advantage on him, and the C63 has about 75bhp on me, so sounds about right.

I still love my estate though - nearly as quick as a C63 saloon and I can take a grandfather clock home if I happen to buy one...

First time I have been full on and had something come past though - I've held a couple of Porsches and a Ferrari off before... Mine has been timed at 10 seconds to 100 mind.
