New owner of a Merc E320 Avantgarde 1998

Just driven home my new pride of joy and as with any used car I am looking for problems.
The washer fluid does not reach the windscreen. Washer bottle is full and the electric motor is running but it only produces a small jet of water from both jets not string enoudgh to reach the screen

Any suggestions about my poor dribbling jets:)

How could you take your new toy out in the rain. You could clean all of the nozels and filters.Some times the pipes,where they join the nozels leak.
take the pipe off top of pump and see how much water comes out, could be a faulty pump. Its going to be a nice day tomorrow, so rather than driving around and showing all of your friends, fix it, as it will pour down on Sunday.

Couple of things;
Is the washer reservoir full of 'sludge' in the bottom? If so put a hosepipe in on full blast to clear it all out.
Other option is that the pipe has come off the jet nozzels. Open the bonnet into the full open 'service' position then open the plastic covers in the bonnet under the two washer jets. You should then be able to see the washer pipes connecting to the jets. Push them back on if disconnected, or cut back the end heat it up in hot water then push it back on.

If it's sludge, the 210 bottles are easy to strip and clean. Did mine a year or so ago , full of crud despite being careful about what I put in. The 211 one is somewhere behind the wheelarch. I just hope I never have to go near it.

I've had this problem on a couple of cars in the past. Sometimes all it needs is a pin or needle carefully poked down the little holes of the nozzles of the water jets that are on top of the bonnet. This will hopefully clear out any small bits of crud.

Flushing the water resevoir was the first job that needed doing on mine when I bought it. Same symptoms as yours but absolutely nothing coming out of the nozzles.

A strip and clean sorted the problem and it was due to an accumulation of sludge. Some windscreen detergents obviously separate out especially if the washer system is not used very often.

Agree with that, I only use either MB or Autoglym screenwash and have never had a sludge problem.
