Evening all
Noticed last week that the passenger footwell was soaking wet. Having looked through this forum I couldn't see any tips on how to keep water drains free from dirt etc,,,
On an American website they advise going into the engine bay and on the passenger side remove the fresh air grill then clean out with high pressure air hose etc...
However on my vehicle this is a sealed unit.
(I was advised at Mercedes that you really need to get the area dry as there are a lot of electrics under the carpet.)

Any ideas please.

Thanks Dave

This was one of the problems taken care of by MB under a recall. Another drain was fitted in part no 10 in Malcolm's link.
My indie poked a screwdriver into the vent and pints of water poured out.

i had the same problem with the water in the foot well and yes it can do alot of damage to to electrics (front sam, relay box) £750 from main dealer.I was advised from customer services that not all w220's needed this recall it all depended on your vin No,my advise is remove the top grill(carfully prize up with large flat screwdriver) on passenger side and remove any large debris, then with maybe a wire hanger or some other sort of rod, clear the water release reed on the right side of the box.
MB stated that this is the owners responseability to ensure that these are kept clear, although it is not writen in the handbook or in any paperwork recieved with the car(so how do you know ??????????) check with your local dealer to see if this was a recall on your car,as mine was not and mine is also a 2000 x.

It may be the right time of year to remind all of the risk of allowing leaves to collect at the base of the windscreen of any car, the bits that fall off will be washed into your drains and then they go all composty and slimey blocking the drain tubes in the process.
