Hi Everyone - Ive got a 96 C180 with some really bad passenger side water ingress probs during carwash etc - My main dealer couldnt find it ?!?! - but I read that the rain holes could be blocked and its quite common - I would be really gratefull if someone could tell me where they are - all the obvious ones are clear - I have had it up on a ramp too and see there are some - what appear to be outlets here each side of the box ?!?!?! Help

I have a new pollen filter ready to go in when Ive cured the prob !!

Me again !!! (New member just getting used to the site) Ive now checked some of the previous postings on the subject but Im not convinced - Ive checked all the easy stuff and cant see how on earth the water gets high enough in the air intake assembly to pour in through the air intake to the fan Ive had all the covers off and expected to see some kind of tide mark in there but it was perfectly clean - is there another way in?

However looking from the front, there is standing water on the LHS of the wiper in what seems to look like a funnel shaped part of the moulding - me and a mate (well I stood and watched) were unsuccessful at prodding this out - It looks like it shouldnt be full - could this be part of the problem....it just seems so dry and clean elsewhere in the air compartment and so wet and nasty in the fan enclosure...

Sorry to go over old ground.... I do love the car but its really getting me down

It's leaves in the drain holes, had exactly the same on my c200. I phoned the RAC and they came and sorted it, said it was very common. Funny how it always happens on the passenger side! If you look at the bottom corner of the windscreen, with the bonnet open, you'll see the drain holes. If I remember rightly there's a little rubber flappy thing covering them.

had this on my 1985 BMW E30 318i. on my car the 2 pipes are connteced to metal, and this metal rusted, and some of the water, was leaking through this little hole, leaking down through the A-pillar onto the floor, took me ages to sort it out.
