Water Leaks 500SL 107

I have just bought a 500SL 1983. I knew there was two major water leaks when I purchased the car. however she is otherwise in great shape.

1) Water on the footwell on drivers side.
2) Water on rear seat buckets

I have re-sealed the rear lights which has stopped water entering the boot. As the wet season is truly upon us, has anyone any idea where the rear water is coming from, I suspect the front leak may originate from the vent just infront of the windscreen.

Any ideas !!!

Hi Nigel

I would check the front windscreen and rear. Check the side windows on the hard top and make sure the panes are sealed properly. On these models the sealer can go off allowing the water to ingress. The pane its self may be loose. Also check the front wheel arch right to the top. Remove any shielding that may be there to gain acess. Check for corrosion.

By chance, the rear windscreen is being replaced this week. When in the garage, I will also use the opportunity to have the front wheel arch checked out.
