Water shortage?

I know we are supposed to be short of water(you would'ent think so with all the rain we have been having!) but my windscreen washers dont work until the 3rd or 4th press (approx 15 seconds) Seems almost as if there should be a non return valve in the pipe line.After this time period every thing is working ok. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? (W203 2002) Thanks!

Sad I know! but I'll answer my own question It appears that the washers either have a non return valve in the supply pipes (from another MB site) or the pump in the suppy tank is leaking back (info from my very knowledgable ind.) He will need to chech it tomorrow to see which one it is. A new pump cost £17 plus fitting They need to get to it from under the nearside wheel arch.

Hi Janice,I forgot to answer your first thread,sorry about that.

The one way valve is important to stop the water running back,there is no reason why you should not add another one if it is hard to get to,it does not have to be an MB one as they are all the same.

Thanks for that Malcolm! The "indi" seems to think its likely to be the pump
(W203 2002) but wantsto check to make sure Going in tomorrow for this check.

interesting, i had the same problem (w203 2002!) and the garage said it would be easier to fit another valve further up the pipe, so thats what they did, instead of a 3press delay!, there is now almost instant water, well its not quite right, but its maybe 0.5second if that (you cant really tell!)
