Has anyone had a problem like this on a W210? - I was about to pull out into the outside line of a dual carrigeway, checked my rear view mirror, indicated right - no right indicator working but I was committed so pulled out anyway, over took the car in front, indicated left - no left indicator! Pulled over as soon as I could and tried the indicators several times, no luck, they just were'nt flashing! Tried the hazards, they worked fine, tried the indicators again, perfect and they've been ok since! Any ideas?

Possible bad connection any where in the (common to both sides) flasher circuit or maybe an ill seated fuse.

Hazard light switch will cause this problem, Turn the hazards on and off a few times very quickly to clean up the contacts inside the switch.

Very hard to work this one out, could be relay or switch, could be just one of those things

If it was the hazard switch it would likely be only one side at first.

If you are carefull it is possible to take the switch to bits and clean it up properly, the 190 switch was horizontal and these get full of fag ash which makes a nice black goo inside the switch, as mentioned take it to bits with care there are springs and little balls in the internal mechanism (2 off) which will try to escape if you open it up too quickly.
open them by inserting two small wedges (screwdrivers) between the rocker and sides.
Similar (mechanicaly) rocker switches can be found dotted all over the car, the window switches included (horizontal next to and below the ash tray).

If you regularly fold back the door mirrors then it could be a short where one of the wires that feeds the door mirror flashers has become squashed. It happened to me and it was the last place I'd have looked for a wiring fault. I found it by chance. When the fault occured I lost indicator use but I think the hazzards worked ok.
