E280CDi, Avantgarde, Metallic black, COMAND, Leather, phone wiring, parktronic, iPod wired, heated front seats, split/fold rear. They found one at a dealer so will be available when I start my new job in mid-May. Should be at the local dealer in a couple of weeks so I can go along a drool. And I'm having it over 2 years so in about 18 months I can start choosing again!

Question - anyone got 'official' roof bars with bike racks? Is the fitting for the bike racks a groove in the bar with a sort of square nut that slides in? Reason i ask is I'll order the roof bars, but have a couple of very nice, unused Audi bike racks that have that sort of fitting (which seems pretty common, to be honest - certainly the same on Thule, Renault and Halfords racks).

Hi Andy, you will love the 280, i took delivery of my 280cdi sport back in december and it has been an absolute joy, its now done 3000 miles and i still have a great buzz about me when i drive it. You`ll be counting the days but all good things come to those who wait

Congratulations Andy - looking forward to hearing how it feels when you get that first drive under your belt. I'm on the lookout for a 280CDi (Avantgarde estate) with a similar spec (although I'll also need ISOfix for the babies, so that tends to limit the number of newsed cars I can purchase... but one will come along soon).

Aly - what did you have before? Does the 280CDi feel swift? Drove a mate's 2 year old 320CDi, but that's a completely different engine and gerabox from what I understand. Have a 280CDi coming for the weekend of 31st March, but apart from that I've not driven the new one. I've got an A6 2.0TDi at the mo, so I'm expecting to feel like I've got a bomb under my right foot!

Incidentally the other car I was looking at was ther A6 3.0tdI quattro - had one on test the other day, and whilst I was happy enough with the pull when I floored it, I wasn't keen on the auto box - seemed to lack any urgency, even in 'sport' mode. Does the 7 speed merc box have a sport mode, by the way?
