this is one reason that diffs make a noise ,if you look carefully you can see the blue burn wear on the teeth ,the crown wheel is the same but the pictures not so clear.181k year late 2000 ,e240 2.6,avant,fully mb serviced,when i opened it the oil smelt like gas,really yuk,ratio of this is a rare 3.67,had to get one in from germany at a sensible price,uk price was too dear,all ok now ,ps when changing diffs keep like for like on ratios ,its a must.
