Hi Folks,

1997 S210 E240 Elegance.

O/S/R passenger seat belt is wet, thats the belt itself when pulled out, firstly where is the belt roll, secondly how do I get to it, thirdly why is it getting wet.

Just for clarity this is the belt for the seat directly behind the drivers seat, not the two seats in the boot!

Thanks in anticipation of your thoughts

I must admit that I don't know much about the estate E class.

Seat belt rolls will probably be behind the boot side trim.

You may have a leak from the window or the fuel filler, otherwise do you have a sunroof fitted?

Hi Chris,

Yes forgot to mention there is a sunroof fitted!

Guess it could be aby of those areas leaking!

Just wondered if anyone had experienced such a thing

Cheers

It's probable that your sunroof drains are blocked. They are positioned at each corner of the sunroof cassette and drain down the A and C pillars.

Its likely that the one draining down behind your O/S/R seat is blocked and leaking. Some cars have a rubber pipe (which can perish) others have a channel formed which rusts along the seam and leaks.

Drain holes ext through the bottom of the car, unblocking these will help to start with.

Cheers Chris,

Though there is one slight problem.......................

The sunroof doesn't slide open !

It was one of those problems I was going to get to on a 'rainy day'

Will hasten my need for fixing it I guess, thanks for the help

I have this issue in my e220d no sunroof AMG line estate.
Both seat belts damp to the touch when pulled from retractors.
Car developed a stale damp smell.

As you're still in warranty I'd take it back for the dealer to sort.

Document it. Put a piece of tissue against the belt - any moisture will be drawn to the tissue and appear as a damp mark on it. Hard to dispute if it does that.
