    Hi

Well thank you to all those who have said hello and for the warm welcome. I am very excited about buying my first Merc, I am looking at a CLK 55 AMG on a 2001 plate with a touch over 100,000 on the clock with FSH.

What I was wonderi ng is what is the car like to live with, the pro's are obvious but what are the honest con's.

I love the car, i like fast cars and seeing as i will only be using it at weekends with an average annual millage of around 9000 i wanted a Merc that made me smile.

So what do you think, any experiences are welcome good, bad or funny.

thank you for you time and hopefully your comments

    Paul

You are better off buying an SL55 AMG 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and top speed of 200mph ( if you took off the restricter!) and funny enough I have one for sale :D

Hi Trigg - welcome to the 55 club ! I'm on my 3rd having had a CL55, SL55 and now a CLS55. There's nothing quite like the feeling when you put your foot down and feel the power !

You'll find plenty of help and advice on here, so feel free to ask away and get out there and enjoy it.

    Cheers

    Jonny

Be prepared to have a permanent grin on your face :D

I recently purchased a CLK55 AMG W209 and I am so pleased with it. Don’t let the mileage put you off. If it has been serviced regularly then you would have no problems. Trouble I found was buying one with a decent service history. Having said that, I did put £1k aside to sort niggling issues. I have already spent over £800! The car is in great nick now though.

    Go on, just do it!

Do check carefully for any rust around the insides of the rear wheel arches and front wings
