What does this switch do?

Usually found on the far right of the bank of switches fitted to W210 models, just above the ventilation controls, it looks like a 'hook' attempting to lift the rear of the car :confused:

It is on just about every car i've seen, yet I can't for the life of me work out what it is for.

Its a tow switch to turn off the alarm sensor when being towed

Its for turning your Alarm off when your car is on the back of a transporter or on a ferry ect. Stops false alarms ect.

isnt that the James Bond switch? fires out a hook to grapel the bumper of the car in front

REALLY whoa I told my better half that it was an emergency hook to hang her handbag on if all the other stalks etc were fully used..
