Put the charger on the E Class. Yet again.

I should use it more really but, especially in this weather, I just can't be bothered as the milk float (RX450) is just easier to access and has turned into the "go to" car. :(

On a brighter note, I ran the 190 for a few minutes yesterday. Just let it get up to temp and ran it through the gears a few times while it's on the lift in the garage. I'm going to make a concerted effort to give it a run out in the next day or two as long as the weather stays dry around here.

Told my cat off!
Opened the bonnet to top up with winter windscreen liquid and found a pile of leaves, dust and grit sitting on top of the airbox at the MAF sensor. Odd that I'd driven the car quite a bit over the last two days. Thought first it had fallen though one of the bonnet vents but no where near one. Finally concluded that over Christmas when the car was having a bit of a rest a little rodent had tried to set up home.
Half an hour with compressed air and various probes has finally got rid of it all.
Cat now on half rations until it comes up with some proof of earning its keep!

Irresistable sunshine forced my car out of hibernation (again) and a lovely drive down to the seaside (West Wittering). Wife was with me, so roof stayed firmly in place. A bracing walk on the beach, seaside fish and chips then home. A hundred miles of comfort and joy.

Drove 225 miles back from Essex on, get this, half a tank (in an E63S)!!!
However, once I drove it into town today on S+ setting the 229 miles indicated as ‘remaining’ went down to less than a hundred in just 12.5 miles of journey . I assume a blocked fuel gauge sender unit or the fact that I just stuck it in C mode and took my time for once!
Oh and had to thank my handy Target Blu Eye for alerting me to an unmarked plod. A turbo sports special Vauxhall estate was looming fast in my mirror so I pulled over to let him past as I was wondering where the signal was coming from. Ah the silver 3 series in my inside with the small black antenna in front of the standard roof shark fin. Suffice to say he wasn’t bothered about my speed - was slowing for junction anyway - more the 100+ Mr Vauxhall was doing and set off catching him up to no doubt talk about it lol.

Now going away to find "target Blu Eye". Sounds like an essential piece of kit.

Just found out it costs £1200 installed. It now seems less essential.

Thanks Rotorhead. £699 + 149.99 for fitting & £104.99 for additional aerial. It all adds up. I've read elsewhere that the police are transitioning their radio work and this kit may soon be obsolete.
They are, Givernment don’t want to pay for a dedicated network for the emergency services anymore so they’ll be sharing the mobile networks with the great unwashed. Which is fine until you get an outage as we did with O2 or the incident they’re attending to is the back end of nowhere so the cell site hasn’t the capacity to handle the traffic. Still it’s cheaper and that’s what matters...

Took my buckled O.E. summer wheel to be repaired today, thank fook it is repairable, gonna cost me £50 (cash). Getting it done at Gordon Hazeltons in Hillington. Not much chance of getting that back from the council.

Checked all the pressures on my winter set which have been on the car a fortnight or two, not dropped a lb, so, turns out I made a good buy there. ;)
