Washed the Clk which was the dirtiest of the two , looks like there might be a week of half decent weather as well .
Did a bit of roof down action earlier in the day .

Anyway, after that I decided to cover her up to protect her modesty - if she has any modesty left that is!

Authentic though it was sitting unused for years gathering dust in a warehouse, I bought it with my own money and now itsi parked along side the 55 (really big Grin)

Gave both cars a Hoover out , and wiped the dash and seats down . Managed to get a stray bit of egg sandwich out as well from a couple of weeks ago .
Moved my plan to forward a step to remove the rocker cover of the Clk to check the chain . This process involved removing the plastic engine cover and looking carefully at the top of the engine with a small torch (like CSI would do) , paying particular attention to all the bolts holding it in place . Looks straightforward enough in warmer weather . This process may be repeated a few more times before a note is made inside the house along the lines of "check Clk cam chain" (smiley face)

Discovered this little switch, never seen it before, what does it do, too scared to touch it just in case (puzzled face)



Temptation won I'm afraid...... should not have touched it!! At least I know what it does I think (cheeky grin)

The switch is aftermarket, could be a simple isolator (fuel pump etc) for theft prevention

After washing the car yesterday, see a few posts ago, I waxed it using the Autoglym's Ultra High Definition Wax.

Sadly the weather wasn't great, (overcast) so although if feels like smooth ice, it's hard to tell how good it is unfortunately so I didn't even bother taking a quick snap - not to mention a bit knackered! Damn, it's a blooming BIG CAR!!!

I had the car running and flicked the switch, and nothing happened luckily, I switched it back to where it was and a bell rang for 3 seconds and stopped (Puzzled look) the car still ran. I think it might be something to do with the phone, as a ring tone has always sounded when you crank the engine. Today I will switch the switch over and see if the bell rings........And report back (smiley thing)

Just ordered some Elring gaskets for the camshaft cover of the CLK , £27 from eBay . Made a cardboard template of the camshaft cover bolt positions for sticking the bolts in when I remove them (in case any are different lengths ?) .
Hope to check the M271 cam chain and sprockets in the next few days , depending on gasket delivery . MB wanted not far off £50 for the gaskets and didn't have them all in stock anyway .
Made sure I had a 27mm socket to turn the engine sprockets around to align to TDC .
At this rate I may not be able to back out from doing it .
