I decided to go through the Service Records Booklet and do some sums.....

I came up with this summation over a period of just over 111500 miles.

3 x 'A' Services

7 x 'B' Services

Extra work: (That I can make out done).

Charcoal Filter 3 times; Brake Fluid 4 times; Fuel Filter 2 times; Serpentine Belt 2 times; Tensioner 1 time; Coolant 3 times; Pollen Filters 2 times; Spark Plugs 1 time @ 101969 miles.

It works out to a Service, mostly 'B' Services every 11000 miles. (Approx).

Is that about normal?

Over how many years?

Used to get up to 18,500 miles between services in my W210, came down to 15,500 with the W211 and W213. I still had decent mileage between services as I was covering nearly 30k per year. If your mileage is low then the ASSYST system will revert to time and pick a service at 12 months which could extraplain your 11k between services, which is why I asked about the years.

The A or B thing is a bit “plug it in and see how much to empty your wallet by”.

I find you can get quite a lot stored around and on top of the boot separator in addition to below it (43” TV for one) :).

Something doesn't look right.
In the list there are 10 Air and oil filters as extra items? They should be changed as normal service items.
Likewise sparkplugs every 3rd service from memory (maybe 4th) and I thought pollen filter was a service item too?

18 years....

Look, I'm not saying this is right or is wrong - I'm just telling it how it is.... People can draw their own conclusions.... But it has to be better than have no history at all.

All I can say is that from 2008 to 2018 it only did about 10000 miles! I believe it was garaged over that period and only used to go to the continent once in a while.

And concerning the Oil & Air Filters That was done as a matter of the Service - not Extra Work. Sorry for the confusion.

Now corrected. :p

Finally got round to replacing rear boot light bulb in the 230. Whilst at it changed number plate bulb and light siliconed the loose holder (seems to be broken so will require replacing).

Also took 'the bus' for its MOT. Passed without any concerns but whilst underneath did spot the SLS pipe is looking very rusty and will need attention very soon.
I also suspect a sphere may have failed as I recently had an unexplained drop in SLS fluid level when there are no leaks.....
Oh well... Looks like some work coming up on it.

Just did an ATF "Dump 'n Fill" this morning, (2.7lts) with Fuchs Titan ATF4134.

In a couple of weeks I shall do it again but this time remove the Sump and change the Filter & Seal, (which I already have). And then one more "Dump 'n Fill" after another couple weeks.

I believe in the gentle and gradual transfusion. ;)

Today I've started the job that i have been putting off for a while. Paint bubbles on R230 rear wheel arches, how unusual :(

Decided to give my summer alloys a "bodge job" tidy up before refitting at the end of the month.
They'll definitely need a refurb to be pristine once again.
Oh well, at least they look a bit better than they were.
Still a couple of little blemishes but, a fair improvement none the less.

I wouldn't have expected extras though (especially 10 of) unless it was regularly driven through Saharan sand storms!

Ahhhh I see what you mean! Yes absolutely

Looks like a good job to me, what colour is that?

Just plain silver with a lacquer over lay.

The light in my garage isn't exactly the greatest tbh. :p

I like the “white-walls” nice touch and a welcome change from rubber bands wrapped around cotton bobbins :D

Just been out in the pouring rain with a sponge to knock 3 weeks of grime off of it. It's now beading nicely. :) It's going to make it far easier to clean to-morrow assuming the weather forecast is correct . Wife thought I was bonkers !!
