Replaced knackered rear number plate light on the SL. What a fun job that is...
Remove boot interior trim, remove lower external panel, remove boot handle cover and then you can get to the light ...

POL’d, washed, vacc’d and titivated both cars.

The CL needed both front door panto hinges lubricating, it’s a fully dynamic pantographic hinge with eleventy thousand moving parts and about 9 greasing points. Instead I use WD40 PTFE penetrating spray once a month, so job jobbed.

The R (or FunBus as my mates now call it) has developed a leaky rear washer nozzle. Back door up, and first bit of trim off, top centre. Dead easy, just pull. The rear washer is conveniently located via a half inch wide hole in the back door inner metal. Wash hose had become detached due to a split, so off to Halfords for some 4.7mm ID hose and a swingingly priced box of connectors.

The nozzle is removable from the outside by pressing on a spring clip just underneath the head. Use a small flat screwdriver or similar (protect paint with a cloth) and the nozzle twists out. I fitted 8” of new clear hose to it, poked that through the hole then connected that to the installed MB hose still in its clips with a straight jag connector.

Job jobbed!

Emptied a load of detritus the kids have stuffed down various holes and from the boot, sorted the boot storage box out, put the rear headrests back in as both kids are now on Booster seats, got wet as it's raining.

Yesterday

Went to visit lifelong family friends in Formby following the lady having a fall and breaking arm in 3 places, leg in 2. Octogenerians should try ice skating!! Not been that way for decades since my parents lived there. Went to look at their old house in Freshfield, as so many, been extended over the years. Big houses with small roads full of cars.

Going up was straight forward, very little traffic, only the 'Smart Motorway' works around Stafford on the M6 caused hold ups. The 1st section around J13 had nothing going on, the 2nd had actual work going on. As we went through the radio traffic told us the M6 was closed from 17:00 Sat to 17:00 today.

Went past Burtonwood services on the M62, to find a 'new' motorway, M57, instead of the old East Lancs road was available!!!

Lovely dinner in an Italian place then back down into L'pool via Crosby, through the roadworks past the docks, through the old Mersey Tunnel into Birkenhead, out on the A41 and down via Whitchurch to the M54/M6/M42/M40/A34/A339 home. Took nearly 6 hours due to diverted traffic, so cream crackered on arrival home.

Just over 500 miles, averaged 58mph and 38.3mpg with some spirited overtaking on the A41 where possible.

I think I'm going to have to get around to swapping mine over in the next few days, before I'm away for a couple of weeks.
