Because of my own stupidity I broke both of the rear window side panels of my SL. Rather than pay out for new plastic ones I used some of my plentiful spare timeto make some from 3mm aluminium sheet. I finally got around to fitting the left side today after leaving it baking in the top of the airing cupboard for several weeks. They are now held on by polyurethane bond(Tiger seal). Just a dab on each pad where the originals clipped on.

I was going to get the two panels repainted on mine as they look like the paint is flaking off...

Went for a 5 hour drive in mine, almost didn’t make it past the first 1/2hr due to fresh rain on tarmac that had been dry for weeks...

Exiting a wet roundabout onto dual carriageway and back end goes wide heading me towards the armco on the inside... caught it (definitely my skillage and nothing to do with the car...:rolleyes:o_O)

Took it a bit gentler then... well until the run back from the Cairngorms when I ragged it rotten :D:p

Yesterday actually but got a bit tied up with things so forgot to post.

Received and provisionally accepted an offer for the E Class as a p/x for something else. No details until it's finalised as I don't want any false promises or let downs but it won't be for around 2 - 3 months anyway which gives me time to post nearer the time.

Not decided whether to sell privately or just throw it in yet, it's very dependant on final figures which I can't get from the dealer until nearer completion due to market and mileage changes. I do have a bit of interest in it as a mate has been quizzing me about it for the last couple of months now, so not too worried at the moment. :)

Is it going to be the one you mentioned the other week to me Dave?

Hardly, I been about on here a few weeks now, no intentions of disappearing any time soon. ;)

I have recently sold my W201 and, as mentioned above, will probably lose the E63 in a while, but this was part of a long term plan anyway. I was undecided for a while as to what to replace them with but that decision has now been made and yes, it will host a three pointed star.

I'm intentionally not mentioning what the car will be as I've been let down too many times in the past. When it's ready for delivery and wearing my old number plate I'll confirm it. :D
