Today I washed the R Class. First time ever that I’ve needed stepladders to wash a car; it’s proportions belie it’s actual dimensions. Damn big car. Then I fixed the Centre middle row seat. The R Class has an unusual seating arrangement; front seats are armchair-like in their immensity and clearly meant for some substantial American presence. The middle row “bench” is actually 3 separate seats, the outer two tip forwards to allow easy entry to the folding third row seats. The centre seat can both tip forwards and collapse into an armrest; this car has the most seat hardware of anything I’ve ever seen. Anyway, that needed some fishing around in the top of the seat with a bent wire coat hanger to retrieve the nylon strap that folds the seat.

Then I diagnosed the failed Parktronic; rear left inner sensor. One ordered for £25 delivered off tinterwebz.

Then I stripped the driver’s door card off the CL to properly attach the inside door handle, left from the work done two weeks ago. Good, I can now open the door from the inside.

Then I washed and waxed the CL...

Had timing chain tentioner replaced tightened a wheel bearing undersealed all the brake pipes again washed it. All in time for the MOT tomorrow

What have I done to my Merc ? I have enjoyed her, immensely ! Took a little drive - all windows down in my CLK - out to a favorite local lake about 25 kms from my place. 28°, blue skies, light breeze and beautiful water. Met a pal there, drank coffee and put the world to rights.

Doesn't need to get any better than this..................................;
