Parked it in a 'regular' bay at a multi-storey, and got punished for that ...

Okay, so it was a bit dirty, as I have driven through a spot of rain, but that's no excuse to smash your car doors (and a red one to boot) against it!

:(

In my defence, when I parked it, it was between 19-reg silver W177 sedan and an 18-reg BMW ...
grrrrrrr

Loaded it up with wine and our luggage and drove back to Blighty from Burgundy. Quick pitstop in London for the night then off to the Lake District to meet Family.

Finally sold it.

The 190E went back in May and the E Class was supposed to be going last month but my buyer had a few problems and asked me to hold on to it which, as I've known him a while and consider him a mate, I was happy to do.

He's now sorted and I'm actually Mercedes less for the first time in over 5 years. :(

The build date on the new one has been pushed back from July to September, so at least another month without one by the looks of things. I've intentionally not admitted or publicised what the new one will be yet as, if the build date alters again, things may just change due to my getting rather disillusioned with Mercedes and their promises.

I'm assuming that I'd be within my rights to ask for the full deposit back if it is delayed again? I'm not over bothered about a couple of months but if it starts dragging any longer then I may just be thinking of alternatives...

You might need to check the small print as to what they can and can’t do regarding delays. I’d wait, it will be worth it

Take care with the small print -- I had a new VW Scirocco on order from main agent to my own build spec (2.0L TSI engine + the options I'd learned to like from my previous tSFI 2.0L Passat SEL) Only to find during the diesel emissions scandal time that they'd put back my delivery by four months. "But why don't you have a diesel with the same options, sir? We can do that for you straight away!"

Having told them to go away in short sharp strokes, came the time to get my deposit back. Oh, said Trading Standards then Financial Ombudsman Service you'll have to pay a cancellation fee under paragraph <bla>, sub-paragraph <bla-bla>, clause <bla-bla-bla> of your sales agreement.

Luckily I'd paid my deposit via MasterCard who proceeded to take 'em apart and I got all my deposit back... Nice people who knew what they were doing. And I'm talking about MasterCard :geek:

.
The death penalty should be reinstated for crimes such as this buddy . I feel your pain .
Thanks buddy :)

The scratch is remarkably deep and it looks like the door was swung open, and then the idiot moved the car, making further indentation and going metal-deep ...

I'll try to [hand] polish it off tomorrow and apply some 191U paint I have, but it's only a temporary protection, if that - I expect it to fully rust through by the Spring. Hopefully by then I can get both new, facelift (different type of weld seal) doors.
Good job it's a coupé

Depends on the dealer, I had a Mercedes on order with Inchcape a few years ago I had to cancel with interminable delays and they accepted with no issues

Being a DUB-head, like my father who had a snub nose Passat B3 from new (them's were the days when VWs was the "built" VWs) I was affected by my experience. So were many others attached to the marque, turning up to "fests", the VW scene, etc.
Course, we now know that suits take no account nowadays of enthusiasts' who actually advertise to others -- by being on the road -- their chosen favourite

Chairman of VAG group at the time Herr "Dr" Martin Winterkorn (spelling?) is wanted in the US to face charges of corporate something-or-other. The US has corporate responsibility laws. But the German authorities have blocked his extradition. Its not what you know, but who you know...

Sunny Danbury is humming and crackling to the sound of "tweaked" exhausts today . Some car show called Fuelfest . Not heard of it but it's well attended .
