Anyway - you know enough about SLs that in order for it not to leak it had to be the 129!
You might have sealed the R230 in an airtight garage :p

Yes, but the V6 sounds better as stock (against R230 SL500) and it’s always at the back of your mind how much water you’re lugging around in the boot and when your next big bill is coming. Great cars but not what I’d select as a daily...

Have to agree with you BC, our 500's just let out a whisper through the exhausts at higher revs, the SLK certainly let out a howling sound at full noise
And I might add, SL's are very much dailys :p

As good a time as any to switch to winters :(

Should be repairable, although I’ll wait until I have some income before getting it repaired.

Just need to remember to get it repaired before March... 602D0399-D15A-499A-8A6E-B92B8F8C2489.jpeg

Quick wash and applied some ceramic wax just to keep the paint in fair shape over the winter.

I always find it a good think when doing a bit of wax to get a true idea of the shape of the bodywork without scaring myself. I have found a small paint blister with corrosion behind it at the rear of the front right wheel arch, and a few little stone chips to be treated and touched in.

Things I’ve learnt today...

Engine oil down the side of the block smells like you’re behind a tarmac lorry until you realise after 6 miles that you’re still getting the smell and there’s no lorry in front... (and you can see smoke coming out of the bonnet top vents when you’re at the lights...)

Also I can’t drive my SLK front wheel onto my ramps (I can get the rear wheels on them by reversing up them though)

I’d checked and topped up the oil yesterday and spilt some down the side (didn’t notice yesterday). It burnt off on the exhaust heat shielding which was nice, rather than igniting...

I’ve taken off and cleaned the undertray (get that you detailer clean freaks :D:p) so it doesn’t drip any residue and cleaned off the alternator and heat shield - plus the side of the block. All good again.
