Making my mind up about SORN for the SLK, I'm in week 1 of 12 week home confinement, wife has yet to drive it but happy to drive the S204, RF is about £30pm so seems logical to reclaim and save £100+ and maybe get a reduced insurance cost. Would have the added advantage of moving an annual bill away from what is now an expensive month (mid Oct-mid Nov) due to insurance on 2 cars and RF on one, as well as a couple of others!

You should try insuring 10 and taxing 6 and moting 8 cars Chris......:D

Wanted to go for a little drive round this morning but, like most of the population, I'm currently grounded.

Best I could manage was a walk round it, give it a quick dusting off, check the tyre pressures and then go for a 2Km walk. On the treadmill. This is getting to be the most boring thing known to man, even though I have fitted a TV in front of it.

Might fire up the 230, take if off the driveway, reverse it back on and put the secondary battery on the CTEK.

.
Was thinking about fitting Maypole charger connector lead, but my thought process got interrupted by duck egg and extra mature cheddar toasts, and a bottle of Arestel Brut ... now I can't remember whether positive goes in first or last o_O

Yes, I know - the car needs a proper clean ... I was going to let MB do it, but the service was cancelled:(
I guess, I'll have to get the hoover thingy out

At least the charger is working perfectly:p

As I'm hardly using the car and if I do it is usually only a couple of miles I also decided to give the Battery a boost today. (I don't want it to go flat because neither of the 2 Keys work in the Boot - only the Doors - resulting in me getting a 12v Supply under the Bonnet to open the Boot.

Had it on Full Charge/Auto Off for a good 6 hours.

You can leave it permanently connected on a "Floatation Charge", but always feel a bit apprehensive to do so.

This is the Charger I have. It actually works very well! It was a gift from someone that had bought one of those CTek ones so had no use of it anymore.

Removed the name plate from the old manifold, and glued to the new one. (Hoping the glue does its job, wasn't sure what was best to use.)

The plate took some cleaning up, used tar removed to get rid of the old glue/sticky pad.

For some essential shopping we decided to use the 55 as it hasn't been used since its service and new battery fitted.
What a difference a new battery has made, no slight hesitation when using the throttle, no miss fire when you first start the car up and all electrics working from the offset (no consumers off line anymore)
The Missus said that I should have fitted a new battery when I first bought you the car over 3 years ago!!! She also said that you wouldn't have had to spend all that money on things that weren't needed    like £600 crank pulley, very expensive MAF sensor, and I bet the cats would have been saved too if the battery had been replaced from day one............:( :( ............Think I'll find a rock and crawl under it...............It runs lovely now :D

To be fair a wobbling pulley did need to be done before it disintegrated in an expensive way.

Re washed both cars as I managed to cover them in black soot when I had a small chimney fire at the top of the log burner yesterday .
Managed to avoid any water damage and put it out with a fine spray from the hose pipe . The blockage was just at the start of the flue . Not sure if it was nest material , dead bird or a section of flue liner which I think is 17 year old .
All in all I count myself very lucky
