The Buick V8 was the favourite transplant here too. I think most of them were left at 3.5 Ltrs though as they were only replacing a 3 Ltr lump. :)

I've got a 3.5 in my TR7 took it out of my SD1 Vitesse which rotted away after £15000 of rust repairs over a 5 year period. The panelshop obviously stayed in business with that customer only!

Did you see David Oxton racing his P76 at Pukekohe in 75? I think it was the GTX series, however in one of his races the exhaust broke and gave him more hp, so I was told?
I went to buy a P76 Executive (really thought they were the bees knees) after driving it I thought, glad I drove one before buying one  as we say in NZ 'what a dunger'.....:(
They had the potential to be a great car - cavernous boot - you could get a 44 gallon drum in it and shut the boot lid!
The build quality was just appalling.

The engine was good though with none of the head gasket failure issues of the 4.2 and 4.6 and good power and torque.

Ideal for the Aussie outback farmer ;)
Agree on the build quality, I paneled and repainted a few P76's for my customers, of course I improved the build quality as well :D

Out shopping in it yesterday and today took it out for more top down driving to the local-ish marina for a picnic. Still only 60 miles for 2 days driving. Tomorrow I will drive it 200 yards for Oil change plus Oil and Air Filters. I had better do a few miles to warm the oil up first.
