Yes, correctomundo!

I wondered why at about 3500-4000, (accelerating with gusto) the whole character of the exhaust note changes drastically! It's like you're in a completely different animal. The first time it happened, (about a week ago - yes, I usually drive very sedately) it actually shocked me!
Normally you cannot hear it at all, engine or exhaust..... I wonder if someone has played with it - the previous owner was/is a Mechanic...??? Weird.

Used to have a C63...
Washed it, was really dusty

Suspect you copped a lot of fall-out from the Kingswear fire JB! Smoke twas reet thick! (I've almost perfected the Dartmouthian accent!)

Mind you... our cars look like desert-dwellers and we're well away from there. :(

Maybe I'll stroll up to the garage and put my C-Tek on overnight. No need, I'm sure but it can't do any harm.

It'll be worth the effort is it flat when you come to use it ;)
Luckily I usually have a battery charged up for cases like this :)

Will this be problematic during next MOT???
Very much depends on what the MOT tester is looking at and for. Officially, yes a fail - especially if it looks obvious that it has been removed / gutted. Emissions wise is possibly less clear cut - it may very well pass.

I'm sure I saw reports of people stealing Catalytic converters, yet some people on this forum actively remove them.

Well, all I can say is that the car passed its MOT late December 2019 and I bought it in the first week of January and no mention of it in the MOT. Also it looks like it was done some time ago so it might have passed 2 as even the previous MOT there is no mention either. Anyway, I have basically until June next year to get a new MOT as the 6 Month Grace came into effect in March and lasts for a period of a year thereafter.

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
  • Windscreen damaged but not adversely affecting driver's view (3.2 (a) (i)) (Literally a chip about 2mm across top/centre of screen).
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
  • Nearside Rear Direction indicator slightly discoloured (4.4.3 (a)) (Bulbs changed).
  • Offside Side repeater slightly discoloured (4.4.3 (a)) (Looks OK to me...???).

I'll find out I suppose. :coffee:
