My battery died on Saturday so got a new one from MB Watford at £246(can't complain the car is nearly 10yo & it was the original battery). So today after a jump start from my mate's Q7 it was off to my neighbour's body shop for his mechanic to fit it.
As payment for that the missus has to cook them some Pad Thai:).

Today tried to remove the speed sensor from the rear hub, failed :(
Will collect the new one tomorrow, but noticed that the hole where the sensor slides into has been butchered in the past and had some resin added which had glued its self to the sensor
Hoping the new sensor will slide in without drama.
Also noticed how clean and new looking was the springs and shocks  Arnotts made in the USA it says on the spring :D

The above picture reminded me that I still have to clean mine from the weekend as it's managed to bring half of Norfolk home with it in the wheel wells. The fronts weren't pretty but cleaned up relatively quickly yesterday, though the rears are being a bit awkward as they're still a bit damp. I left them till this morning but have still only managed to get one done due to a lack of time and me being old and tired. :(

There's always tomorrow, (or the rest of the week).

How they started: -

And what I'm aiming for, though will still need improving upon after it's dried off completely: -

I've still got the wheels to do as well but they shouldn't take long. Everything seems to take longer lately but I'm not in any particular rush any more I suppose as it won't be getting used for a while now...

Mine is in the bodyshop, getting a few bits done. Do you fancy cleaning it when it gets back :)

on the 55 I have discovered there's a nice little lip where the wheel arch folds in on the inside. It creates quite a convenient place for moist mud to build up...

Yes, its a bad design. Newer MB's dont have such a big lip there, and also have a significant amount of seam sealer and stone chip type metal prep under the paint.

I was wondering whether just spraying some expanding foam in there would do the trick

No, it needs to be sealed against the metal. The expanding foam will just trap water like the mud would do.

A lot more than spuds I think, coming back home was pretty chaotic as well as I decided on the A17 which, as the locals to the area know, means you're travelling as fast as the tractor in front of you.

Car's all cleaned up now and the soil/clods of earth are now hopefully washed away with the rain we've had. Just finishing off this morning with the under panels and exhaust but it's a bit too cold for me at the moment. I'll probably wander back in the garage later and throw a heater on to keep me going.

Blimey JL, Dave will have spuds growing out of his under garments :D:D

Doubt it Peter, they've only another week or so to go before they get washed, another month gone. :D
