I had the battery on the GLC replaced today after four years. John Griffiths of Caversham collected the car, did the work including diagnostics and returned it by lunchtime. Very pleased. Cheaper than main dealer, I guess.

Yes it is a short life. I’ve been nursing the battery, since before the start of the virus in March, by connecting it to a conditioner while in my garage. My last Merc was a C200 estate and I kept that for nine years on the same battery. The recent failure could have been due to the stop start eco function in the GLC. I hope the new batt lasts longer than four years.

The one in my 911 is 7 years old, the Landy has 2 and they’re both 6 years old, the CBR battery is 8 years old and the R1200GSA battery is 11 years old. All perfect despite none of them getting much use (all live on ctek or optimate conditioners)

Oh sure. I’ve been a car owner for sixty years and batteries have never been an issue. Taken completely for granted.

The one in my wife’s 169 lasts 14 years before it finally had enough

Mot has just been carried out after my 6 month extension ran out.
Failed on near side wheel bearing for having to much play and an advisory for the offside wheel bearing for play and that is all. anyway wheel bearing has now adjusted so pretty much no advisories and a clean MOT!
not bad for a 15 year old W211 with 133k miles!

I did think this because I think someone on here told me there’s so play naturally, the issue is I can’t argue with an MOT tester

You can’t but you can take it for another test elsewhere
