Really or rarely?? It wont matter to much as the alloys on the Money Pit are 16" complete with corrosion :( I've got a set of 17s which also need a refurb....future plans eh
It REALLY gets the dust off… along with the lacquer, paint and alloy…
Very popular in the closed PFS hand car wash business. Take a look through their waste containers some time…

Oh, I see now, I didn't look at the your link. No feet, blimey I've got some of that water too, works very quickly on the weeds, but leaves a white stain on the concrete
One constellation though, they use there hands at the hand car wash, not their feet, imagine the finish

When I moved house I lost my detailer (he refused to board the removals lorry;-).

With lockdown I have struggled to find anyone so on 3x occasions in last 7 month took the SL through the hand car wash, Alloys now all need a refurb, Diamond Cut so will be expensive!

Got a new detailer coming today, fingers crossed he is good.....

I was similar, except I stayed where I was and my detailer moved....well stopped detailing.
He done 3 of my previous cars and I built up a trusting friendship with him...plus he was very good at his job.
After a long period and 2 cars later I have found another detailer who is also very good at his job, so I look forward to using his services again in the future. :)
I enjoy washing my cars and keeping them spotless inside and out, but leave the rest to a professional detailer.

I used a detailer when I first got the Shooting Brake but it didn't look any better than when I do it!

Maybe he just wasnt very good, or you are and should go into business. :)
Seriously though if you are prepared to put in the effort you can achieve stunning results on your own.
To be honest I cant be bothered with anything other than washing anymore, so I leave the other bits to the professionals. There are things they can do that I don't have the expertise, equipment or facilities to do.
Yes it costs a few hundred pounds, but for me it is a once only treatment per car then simple washing has it looking like its just been done.

Yeah, three out of four of my 16” look like they have the plague (have done since I bought the car) and just figured due to the car value that an alloy refurb wasn’t worth it unless I do the refurb myself...too busy trying to refurb the house though

I do enjoy the detailing but I doubt I could deal with the general public very sympathetically.;)

Might be worth taking to a MB dealer who uses https://www.lepsons.com in Rochester. I paid £127 each for refurb, buckle repair of my diamond cut 20". 2 day turnaround.

I am going to have a go at refurbishing my 17's when I get the time. I can't make them look any worse :D

Not good news for The Money Pit. Prognosis is it needs a new torque converter and be best to replace the transmission as well  it's slipping really badly now so may have grit from the torque converter throughout the trans! Great  The oil leak was traced to a power steering pipe.
It's now parked up until I have saved up for a transmission and torque converter
I've spent 3 times its value since November.
One consultation, I get to use the 55 again, thank goodness it's a far cheaper car to own and use :)

Gave the taxi a good wash this morning, then visited daughter#1 to repair a leaking radiator valve.
Didn't pay much attention to the tree surgeons working a good 100 yds away when I parked up.

On leaving, I couldn't miss the car totally covered in saw dust that had blown all over and stuck to the car during a short rain shower.
It looks worse now than before I washed it.

Detailer failed to turn up, back to the drawing board, 2nd no show!

Found a wheel refurbisher to do the diamond cuts but may wait until the new detailer takes a look.

Have a look at Alloy Art , Southend for wheel refurb . Not my direct experience of them but my local garage uses/recommends them

Powder coat for longevity buddy ?
I have thought about that but would detract from the original look, most of the problem started with a little curbing, then winter and hand car washes did the rest...

I may just leave it to nearer sale time or buy a cheaper set to run on then refurb at leisure..

May be worth another look, as they can do different colours / tones on different faces, replicating (to a fair degree) the OEM look.

I think it's something like High Power Silver they use in place of a diamond-cut finish... TV Malcolm mentioned it somewhere, I'm sure.

It is not car washes, it is stone chips in the lacquer that cause the Marbling effect as water and salt get under it and lift it

Have a look at "Hi-Power" Silver for a very shiny powdercoat
