Thought I would have an easy day, but decided it was time to make a start on the Money Pit. Put it up in the air and started removing bits in preparation for a torque converter change

Also washed my undergarments, then hung them on the line. :D

Pleased to hear that, when I tried to insure with them they Quoted something like £1500, I settled with LVE at £293 !!:eek:
@Rotorhead500 Wow indeed, and when I told the Chris Knott representative that I could get it an awful lot cheaper than his quote he didn't want to discuss it and just bought the call to an end. Not impressed at all :alien:

When the monsoon lifted long enough I tackled the front brakes, I got discs, pads, flexibles and dust shields. So set out with the intention of getting it all changed in one day.
Got the first metal pipe out of the flexible (usual worry of binding and breaking off) no problem as it was in good condition. Caliper, carrier and disc off and the dust shields actually weren't too bad just 15 years of encrusted brake dust but probably a lot of work to get them painted.
Took the hub off to remove them and then the painting started can't seem to resist a coat of Hammerite, after wire brushing and de-greasing. So the upright, back of the hub, caliper and carrier got the treatment which rather set back the timing but this allowed time to repack the wheel bearings. The outside one has a little wear as the previous owner had fitted aftermarket wheels and had remover the bearing dust cap to get them to fit.
Took a few photos and then misled the phone at lunch so the rebuild hasn't been documented but I'll get around to that as I'll probably have the wheels off again for a final bleed once everything's bedded in.
If I had stayed away from the paint it would have been a lot quicker! Anyhow all back on and thinking about finishing painting the other two wheels tomorrow if I have recovered:rolleyes:

Finished fitting the replacement parts on the Money Pit, took it for a run and the trans seems to be fixed, all smooth changes. Unbelievable that a torque converter can cause all those issues when the car is cold.

Nice one! What was the damage on the torque converter in the end, if you don’t mind me asking
