Took it for a most enjoyable drive up Mont Ventoux (1910 metres) this afternoon. There were few cyclists around this year and, for much of the way, I followed a BMW X3 M40i which is matched pretty well with mine for performance and power from it's straight 6. He was being sensible on the corners but flooring it on the straights. Initially, he wasn’t hurrying but, as I started to keep up with him out of the bends, he tried harder - and so did I so he never got away from me. I think this is the first time I have ever had the pedal to the floor so much and the first time I have ever used Sport+. To add to the enjoyment, Katie was encouraging me and squealing with delight each time the M and AMG roared up yet another hill. I didn’t get a lot of chance to look at the speedo but I think it was probably a good job there were no Gendarmes about. I also really liked the way the car blipped the throttle on the down-changes in Sport+.

Probably my most enjoyable drive ever. The car felt perfectly planted and secure and sounded wonderful. Now, I wonder what we’re doing tomorrow afternoon….

Polished up the old Star, using an old toothbrush on the ultrasonic brush head with Solvo Autosol as polish. Then treated with PERL to make the black 'pop' and effects of UV lessen.

Annoyingly a sidewall hit on a new tyre this year. New tyre now fitted to the wife's A class.

When I viewed my SLK in 2018 I noticed the clip was missing holding down the radiator on the pax side. Yesterday whilst checking the under tray and removing the front of the wheel arch liner I found the original… :) (The dealer replaced it before ai collected it)

Loads of space behind the headlight once the front of the wheel arch liner is removed

I took a run over to Edinburgh at the weekend to visit my Mercedes dealer. This involves driving over the recently built Queensferry Crossing for those that are interested. :geek:
Cruise control was set to 56mph on the Dual/Motorway sections, and my journey included some urban stop and start driving too.
Its not the best round trip average I've had but still impressive to me nonetheless.
To everybody that tries these experiments...do you ever think that nobody you know would be able to achieve your fuel consumption even if they were driving the same car? I've seen the way friends and colleagues drive, and they wouldnt even come close. :p

Note my full tank of petrol which will last me best part of a month, so no queing up for me. ;)
