Yes it's a third party upgrade to the original Comand4.5. Not cheap but keeps everything near original and is actually better as it supports DAB+ which genuine doesn't.

Sounds good. I need to sort my NextBase DAB ariel out as the reception is carp

Changed thermostat on the beast.
Yes @EmilysDad it was a genuine one!
All £153 worth of it!

Now sits at a nice steady 90+ degrees and warms up quickly. Previously struggled to get to 75 degrees.

Not the most straightforward job but nowhere like as bad as a Smart.....

Didn't know the OEM till I got the new one.
At least this way I have the correct one too (there are a few).
A6422002215 is the MB part.

How much?!?!? That's even more than the 'ECU controlled motorised valve' on EmilysMum's C3

I'd no idea where the 'stat was on mine till you mentioned it ... then I'd to go & look ;)

It's top front of the V. Looks nice and easy till you discover there's a bolt that's about 2 miles long that won't pass the big aluminium intake tube and fuel lines. They almost got it right but then messed up with that one bolt.

I think universally Wahler is a top dog .

On the other derv a bloke told me at what A to B points his got to temperature after replacing with a new Wahler sometimes also marketed as a BorgWarner .

I didn't believe him , but sure enough the needle goes like a rocket and it was a Wahler thermostat in a BorgWarner box .

I was impressed with the warm up time.
I started the engine, idled it for a minute to check for leaks, then drove about 1/2 mile before there was heat from the heater and about 2 miles and it was pretty much up to temperature. Almost as quick as the 230...

Fitted a new pair of gas struts to the boot of the 230.
Bootlid doesn't fall on my head any more.

Any clue where you got them from ? I've been trying to enthuse myself to look into it again. Did you go genuine from MB Grangemouth, or aftermarket ?there are plenty about.

cheers.

Washed it. It’ll be filthy again by lunchtime tomorrow, but I had to. It was making me feel sad.

After MrsLK (bless her cotton socks) first lost one of the 230 keys then washed the second one in the washing machine I've only had the keyless go key to use (though the one she washed did still start the car, just no remote unlocking).
A local mobile key specialist tried to do it (used for convenience) and after nearly 3 hours gave up.
Booked it in to Replacement Mercedes Keys and today they did the work.
The previous guy had managed to use tracks 7 and 8 (which is apparently a bit weird!) for some unknown reason.
Mark and Matt untangled the mess and within just over an hour we now have 2 working keys.
The service was excellent and the guys are really friendly and professional (and the price good too - they even give a forum discount!).

I've recommended RMK in the past on their reputation from others but now having first hand experience I can say they're an excellent place to go if you have any locking issues.

It's also highlighted why it's best to use acknowledged experts.

Thoroughly recommended.

Taken a 20in wheel off my son’s W213 due to loosing air, cleaned it up to find a crack on the inner edge which is luckily less than 50mm so taken it for welding. There was also a golf tee stuck in there so whether that has penetrated the tyre we’ll wait and see

Not as much as I would have liked, I hate working under cars so it takes me ages to jack them up, make sure all the axle stands are secure, shake the car a few times then check all the axle stands again.... well I was hoping to get the engine mounts changed and the gearbox mount, after doing the easy job first 0(gearbox mount) I started to look at the engine mounts, passenger side one looked easy enough but the drivers side one was a big HELL NO!!! I took one look at that and gave up, DPF is in the way. The steering thingamejig looked like it was going to interfere so that's a job I don't want to attempt, my luck I'll damage something getting it off then I won't be able to move it to take it to be done correctly.

No wonder my car was a tad noisy. 20220127_145018.jpg 20220127_145026.jpg

Done over 500 Mile's in the Money Pit since the core plug fiasco and its only cost me in diesel, oh I hope I haven't been too hasty in my phase, its such a lovely car to be in and drive, smooth, quiet and no knocks or thumps its just like a new car.......silly me it is a new car

I have newer cars but I must say, my go to whenever I go out is my E350 - it is just Ronseal...if anyone in the UK knows what I mean.

Also - the ride quality, even though it is a 'sport' model if that makes any adverse difference to the ride - but the ride quality flabbergasts me everytime - so effortlessly smooth - I presume a fully documented main dealer history for a car approaching 10 years old with approx. only 50K miles and not having to want for anything having been adorned all the services and parts it has ever wished for, pampered excessively and proactively maintained regardless of cost, is the reason why, I seriously dont think a new one could ride too much better.

Love it to bits, doesnt stop me looking at the classifieds as I work from home these days, but then I pop out for some nicotine during the day and look at it, and I think 'I can't imagine anything doing the job that the E does better'....even at twice the price....(although the outgoing S class is tempting).

Therefore, and back to the thread topic...what did I do to it today...I gave it a much deserved day off...it was able to relax and rest without having to work all day...and sit there looking pretty.

This is not a pic from today...but one that I like. E350-Snow.jpeg

If you have replaced everything between the number plates get new ones for that new car smell.
