MOT done today on the 207. Passed with one advisory for a rear tyre which I expected. I will change both. Granted, it does minimal miles now and only in the summer months, but I'm chuffed to bits with this car every year I own it!! Also had the wheels aligned (explains the tyre wear). Also asked them to throughly check rear subframe for the dreaded internal rot. A1 condition. Winner.

And in turn, I’ve just had Welwyn Merx call me re the timing chain/ tensioner issue that I dropped it in for…

The horrendous rattle is actually the a/c compressor clutch, which has self immolated and is causing the rattle that I had associated with the timing chain. Plus it explains why the a/c wasn’t working…

£906 and we will do the job within this week.

Air Filters are every 4 years, I change them every 2 so they are due

Filters are classed as "extras" in the service schedule

Needs a pair of front tyres as well

If you do the maths they are charging £100 to fit the air filters and £100 to fit the fuel filter!!!!!!

No point if you have a towbar and it doesnt stick out.....Discourages other drivers from getting too close and is also wonderful for smashing your shins.

Disagree .... towbars should live in the boot or tucked away when not in use. They look 'orrible!

To keep your costs down, get the gen items yourself and chuck them in the boot.

I have been doing that for years and it does help to keep the costs down.

Wow - I’m really happy I took a year 4 to 6 service contract with MB when they were on discount. IIRC it cost me £1200-00 for 3 services.

I asked MB York for a quote on my wife's B class and they quoted me ~£200-00 more than our indie (whose price includes doing the MOT).
