Not today but yesterday, took it for a "B" service + MOT.

It still goes to the main dealer as, even at 6 years old now, I want the Mobilo to continue. I also know that I could save a few quit by getting it tested elsewhere but, as it's already in at Mercedes, it saves me the hassle of rooting around for someone else and wasting another hour or so while it's done.

One thing which was picked up on the service was that the oil drain plug was a bit chewed up/rounded off. Fair play to the service advisor who told me, and apparently they had to send someone to another dealership (Stockport) to acquire a new one. He stressed that there obviously wouldn't be any charge as the only people who could have damaged it would have been themselves, just annoying that whoever did it originally didn't admit it at the time. To be honest, I was a bit surprised that they used the drain plug, I thought they would have vacuumed the old oil out. Ah well...

It's now sorted for another 12 months, MOT passed with no advisories and the only service note was that the rear tyres are down to ~5mm.

Quite frankly dave a car with that value in immaculate condition makes a lot more sense going to main dealer for service given the complexity of the car. Do you get a discount on service plans with MB owners club?

Don't think my local dealership offer club discount Nick though I've yet to find out as I always forget to ask them.

Put 2 new Eagle F1 Assy 6's on the front, as local builders had been less than diligent with their tidying and the screws they left lived up to their name and "self-tapped" themselves into the outer edges of my tires

Drove to Hook and back (172 miles each way at 42.7mpg), EML came on when I filled up in Newton Abbot on the way back, getting diagnosed later

So I’ve got rid of the CLK and bought a 2017 E350d after swearing I would get a petrol !
It’s from MB under the approved used , 1 owner full history 54k .
I’ve spent 2 days cleaning , iron fallout remover, tar remover , clay bar , da polisher on small scratches etc .
I’ll do more pics at some point but chaos reigns here with log burner fitting and double glazing being done , so I’ve been hiding in the garage tinkering .
Anyway , stunning machine .
This pic is before any coatings or polish .
I’ve got some stone chips to try and work on first .

Said goodbye to the S65 of nearly 10 years today. Slightly emotional but hopefully the new owner will bring it back for a service every now and then.

It’s funny you mention that buddy . New filter arrived yesterday , oil is in the garage ready to go .
My plan was give the car a spanking to loosen any deposits from an oldie owing it then change the oil next week .

I would be checking the air filters, they really get clogged and new make a massive difference

So another few hours touching in stone chips and the odd small scratch , another showing of the DA polisher on certain sections .
Poorboys black hole all over followed by a spray top coat (light blue liquid , beads like crazy , can’t remember name of it ) .
Everything aches now , must be nearly 10 hours on just the paint !!

Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Brilliant stuff - my go to top-up!

Also very good on a cleansed panel if you spray a couple of squirts, wipe over with a damp microfibre, then hose off thoroughly!

I'm doing the gearbox service on the 9gtronic 250 gle.. well easy stuff ..but this was a new one even for me..the oil meets mb specs and one of the 5litre cans was decanted into a pressure container to pump into sump..the as a matter of course I checked inside 5litre can to see if there was any oil left, to my horror I found sludge and contamination, the supplier informed the napa people who intern informed the makers,apparently vavoline..they asked for the product dates and codes on cans..they are carrying out an investigation,I duly sent them the photos, new oil is being sent from car parts factors..but a different make meeting the required specification,so the job is on hold until then. As I said an new one for me, I've never seen sludge like particles or black gritty contamination..hope it helps to anyone out there, so I will be checking the new oil with a critical eye
