Just a short top down drive this morning  then I threw a bucket of water over it this afternoon.
I gave the stainless tailpipes a quick autosol-ing as well just for good measure.
(I then did the ones on 911 as they weren’t looking their best either…)

Okay, I see, your showing me that you can place your Missus' nice white cashmere knitted £800 jersey in your boot and it doesn't get wet.......
Nooo. That’s an old kiddy’s cardigan I found in the garage! I was looking for some old rags and found that.

But no... it doesn’t get wet! :p

I’d be concerned about the 3 warning triangles… previous owner expecting it to be a hazard to traffic…?

That makes it worse… Mercedes wished to warn others of the “Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus” sat at the side of the road…

They did indeed. Quite odd. Two clipped into the boot lid, next to each other, and another clipped into the toolkit. I’m actually struggling to think of the last time I used a warning triangle let alone 3 at once.
Although my toolkit now has two pairs of linen gloves for wheel changes..!

I changed the plugs today on my M112. Not as bad as I expected access wise.
Plugs themselves were good but threads were a bit gummy so I imagine whoever fitted them put something on them.
Mercedes NGKs were replaced with Bosch. I don’t know how long they had been in but the gaps looked to have increased to 1.2-1.5mm.

Bit of de-policing and wheel centre replacement on the Viano today.

I could see where the police had removed the blue lights that would have flashed in the clear rear indicator lenses and just plugged the holes with a black grommet which then reflected around the light unit. Removed both rear light assemblies and simply glued bacofoil over the holes once grommets removed. Now looking at the reflectors it all looks shiny. Also found both rear light units fitted with cabling trapped between unit and body so correct that when refitting.

There were also some scuffs on the rear lights which I polished out with compound by hand.

More investigation re replacing the rearmost roof light and covering the holes left from the Police Stop LED sign. Found a Hella lamp that will fit well so ordered. Also noticed with the headlining pulled down at the rear an 8-pin plug with wiring leading off in two directions. I'll find where this goes and disconnect but leaving a pull through for the reverse camera wire.

Tatty alloy wheel centres replaced with a great value Ebay set. Blue light blocking.JPG

Continued the hunt for the squeak in the rear suspension, after trying the hit and hope method of spaying everything in sight with ACF50 it was back to getting the old spanners out. So off came the rear shock still in good condition, rear spring out decidedly rusty but sound. Wire brushed it, looked at it sanded it, looked at it again so the "rust converter" came out and then some hammerite.
Just then the parts I ordered arrived rear discs, pads, shoes and flexibles so it was into full take everything apart and paint it mode, lucky the temperature was in the high 20's as everything dried over lunch.
Happy everything came apart easily especially the metal pipe to the flexible but the parking brakes are a PIA, back seat out to slacken off the adjuster to get everything in place but now with 3 clicks on the pedal you certainly won't drive off with it on.
Quick drive around and mercifully no squeak for now, I cleaned and greased the spring seat.
Couple of photos to keep Wighty happy for proof ;)

Changed the crank case ventilator (pcv valve) on the W251 as a precautionary maintenance item (55k miles and 11 years old).

Was a beach to get the old one off. They slot in perfectly so you cant wiggle them out and the space is non existent at the back.

Replaced also the turbo seal to air inlet (as I do annually).

Musy say with the new PCV the car
is running so much more silky smooth.

Pity the OM642 has these maintenance items which are more
service items.

New ticket for a year yesterday, only think to note was a little wear to the inside edges of the front tyres, not worth actually putting an advisory on but good to know I need to get the tracking sorted sooner rather than later.
Worked out the mileage since last year and I’ve not even done 4K this last year, really need to get out more now we can.
On a plus note the old barge clicked to 100k miles just after I did the shopping today, could get a picture at that point but did get one with all the 9’s in the supermarket car park 0B18EC79-21CB-4C96-9CAF-BFD52471AB31.jpeg
