Took the car for an early CT to avoid a test in the winter and having to prepare it the cold and wet :( Went through no faults :Dbut developed a rattle from the rear on the way home:( Turned out to be the heat shield around the rear exhaust box loose:)
A day of mixed emotions:cool:

Took the E63 to the main dealer for its A service this morning. Clean health check video sent to my phone whist I was still in the lounge drinking coffee.

I was given a printout of todays service, a written record of tyre/brake pad and disc and brake line condition along with a mention of body damage?
When I queried this, it was a small scrape under the n/s front bumper done before I even owned the car. Probably edged over a high kerb. It just needs a rub down, small amount of filler, another rub down , priming, paint and clear lacquered. I'd forgotten it even needed doing.
I also noticed the mileage was wrong on the service. Should have read 34014 and it was printed 34041. Also when I started the car the message came up "Change key battery" Strange it was fine before the service. Got a few CM2025 batteries at home so that's done now.

One more B service to come on the plan I took out, then time to decide whether to keep the servicing within the dealership to retain FMBSH and Mobility or save some money and use my very good indy. Got to book the MOT before 4th Oct now.

4 new tyres fitted to the SLK.
5 minutes down the road and the Missus calls to say there's a flappy noise and said she's got a flat tyre and the dash said low tyre pressure. So I went out to check and found I forgot to remove the ratings sticker off the right front tyre

My cleaner visits today so rather than get in her way I've driven out to a lovely secluded spot where I can watch the fields and trees and listen to the rain on the roof.
so peaceful!

Enjoyed some more spirited driving along some beautiful Provençal roads. All credit to my new travelling companion who actually enjoys me selecting “Sport” mode and attacking the hairpin bends! I mentioned that forum members usually talk of their “speed limiter” or “fun prevention officer” so she has adopted the title of “fun promotion officer”. I also feel entirely safe when she drives the GLC.

Costa run today.......Weather was rubbish to start but Herefordshire and Shropshire were dry and sunny this afternoon. Hit the rain again on the way back and cost me 30 mins of start/stop on the M42 which knocked my mpg and avg speed down a bit.....Still, it was a good Costa!

(Yesterday) Tar spots, wash, clay mitt, da polish, AG seal. gtechniq C5 alloy wheel armour. Well, I did the front half the car anyway, the rest will get done later.

The clay mitt felt like it was going over sand paper to begin with.

Looking at those tarnished C pillars and thinking "dare I do it"? I think so.

This was during a Lake District visit earlier this summer

…and a picture of the GLC after she had parked it In Keswick. I nearly suggested we swap over the driving so I could park it but I thought that might be a bit condescending. The car park was actually quite tight and I would have gone forward, reversed a little and then gone into the space on a straighter line so I said “You won't get into there in one go“. “Why not?” she said and then proceeded to park, straight in, between the lines and without looking at the 360° camera. I've been driving the car for nearly three years and wouldn’t have tried that and she did it easily after less than an hour's driving. :( Apparently, she learnt to drive on hairpin roads in Austria so I’m just waiting for her to ask to try some of the hairpins in Provence

The Costa is fine, it just leaves a bitter aftertaste of tax not paid…
As far as I know Costa do pay tax in the UK. In 2017 they paid £24.7 mill on £104 mill profit. Starbucks paid £3.4 mill on £56.5 mill profit tut tut...., Cafe Nero paid Zero tax on a supposed loss of £25.5 mill. Nero's excuse was the high cost of loans to fund the business - they were paying interest charges of over 20% from.......other companies within the group.

I wonder if the free coffee I get at Cafe Nero on O2 priority (get another free with every 9th one if I use the app) have tax contribution? A quick ready reckoner is 1 per week free, so 52 + 5 further free at £2.90 a go is a 'saving' of £165.30 annually. Add to that the offers on Magnums at 'Merlin' attractions at £10 per day (4off) a week at a time over summer works too. Add in weekend breaks, windscreen wash fluid, bicycle pumps, toolboxes, screwdriver sets, Greggs sausage rolls, breakfast baps and much more pays for my sim only O2 bill.

Don't buy Costa or Starbucks, syrupy, sugary carp.

Costa is Whitbread. Our local council have taken on Costa franchises across the town at leisure centre, shopping parks, drive thru sites. Always a q. Gotta support the NHS in the long term I guess (diabetes).

Now giving it a Provençal style car wash in the hope that the rain lasts long enough to wash off 10 day's worth of dust!
