New rear discs and a few mot failure points sorted on the Ram ready for the retest.
Dakota returned me 18.1mpg on my round journey from Cambridgeshire to Leeds, Huddersfield, Kenilworth and back to Cambridgeshire. Not so good towing though.

Took the BMW for a jaunt to Sainsbury’s and forgot the Tikka chicken or more to the point SWMBO did (note to self don’t mention it again lol)

The BM is on 17k miles now and the engine is just starting to loosen up and the suspension starting to soften (thank goodness) so a very pleasant drive indeed even on our third world roads.

This is an interesting watch especially if any members own one of these cars I know this is related to the US market but some of these cars may be sold over here. The takeaway for me was the fact that one of the cars listed uses an electric oil pump???

Used to have a C63...
Thought I'd better restore a bit of order to the UnMerc after this last week or two's movements, which included a trip to Winchester & Farnborough during & after Storm B'steward last Wednesday.

Seemed an opportune time to try out the Bilt Hamber Touchless I'd bought the previous week - can recommend it, especially if you're trying to keep the current weather effects at bay.

Only applied with IK hand-pump foam sprayer then used my hose pipe with a trigger jet nozzle to rinse off, but surface cack seemed to come away very well; ertainly seemed to help the mitt glide over for the subsequent quick once-over!

I agree. It's unique in it's proportions. A timeless thing I feel

VW Golf R, E350 CDi Sport Coupe, now gone.
Hello strangers!
Reports of my demise were grossly exaggerated.
I can't believe that it's been over a year since I last posted.
I have been a bit on the busy side to put it politely, in preparation for retirement mostly, as well as adjusting to being a widower. There just didn't seem to be enough hours in the day for me.
Update :- As already confirmed, still alive. The last time I posted I was running around in a VW Scirrocco Un-Merc and had just had some trouble with the brakes, the joys, the joys eh?
Last January (2025) I was again seriously looking at getting back into a Mercedes again and couldn't make my mind between an SLK or SLC 250d mainly thinking about the economy and style aspect.
My son had just bought a VW Golf R Mk7 and gave me a test drive, oh dear, all thoughts of another Merc disappeared promptly. The Golf was better suited to my circumstances, as well as being a little more roomy. Five doors and seats, instead of two doors and two seats, plus four wheel drive, so much better for the lousy weather that we endure on the West Coast of Scotland.
I had been browsing Autotrader one evening when my oldest lad came in to the living room and saw that I was looking at a Golf R, the DSG model and said "If you're going to buy that Dad I'll buy your Scirroco for Rachael (his Mrs), it'll save you a lot of faffing around trying to get a good trade in deal and get us out of trouble as her car needs a repair that's going to cost more than it's worth".
And so it came to pass that my Golf R came to be aquired.

That was in January last year, fast forward to the end of Autumn and I was beginning wind down mode at work as, I was due to retire in December, although I was running around like a headless chicken getting things organised for that out of work.
Said retirement took place on 12/12/25 and since then I've been doing very little, apart from routine household chores, mainly because the weather has been completely rubbish. I've hardly been out on my bike at all for the same reason.
Now that I have a bit more time, I will be able to become more involved again, (I hope).
Take care all!

So nearly 2 months since you retired and you’ve only just posed… B- must try harder.

Good to have you back, nice colour Glof, although an SLK is a much more practical car… although I might be slightly biased…
