Hi, a newbie to the site.

Owned my W211 E-class for 16 months, I do quite high mileage, and have already had a Service A at 15500 miles. My service indicator is telling me I need Service C. I've heard of A and B, but a C? Can anyone enlighten me please?

Thanks

My wife's A class has just had an A service done. When leaving the dealer it showed C service in 15K miles.

My experience (based on the local M-B dealer) is that they are unable to explain the the service progression A,B, C etc. and that they simply implement the A/B/A/B alternation that they are accustomed to.

The first service indicator for my A-class was B at 13,000 miles. The dealers carried out an A-service saying that this is what the workshop computer told them to do. Following this, the next service indicator in the car was C (22,000 miles) but the dealers said the car needed a B service. On picking it up, the service indicator read C service due in 8,900 miles but it changed to B the very next day.

I'm totally lost and I don't think the dealers are much better off.

Had my Service C done a month ago

Involved oil and filter change, transmission fluid change.
Cost me approx £300 from a MB dealer (car still in warranty)

Shop around the prices vary from garage to garage.
Try and get a 20% discount if you get it done from the place you bought the car from.

service lights A through to F do not apply in the UK - these only apply outside the UK due to the dealer being unable to quote on the service until the car is in the dealership and plugged in to the STAR diagnosis to generate a service sheet ( apparently it is uncommon on the continent for customers to ask the price before the service is carried out ?? )
The + after the letter means that a brake inspection is also due
Here in the UK when you call a dealer, they need the mileage and date of registration of your car to enable them to generate an electronic service sheet (ESS) which tells them of any additional requirements over and above the standard oil service which ONLY THEN enables them to quote you a price.

I recently rang the dealership in Leeds and they asked for the vehicle registration mark, then gave me the full price for the different service schedules
